Result of the friendly game of Friday May 12, 2006 between Toronto Supra Portuguese (CPSL) and SC Braga of Portugal played at Lamport Stadium in Toronto at 9:30pm.

88 min...Braga Diego Costa* GOAL...A Braga player made a nice deke of defender along left end line and crosses in from 12 yards where Kim can tap in a 4 yarder. (*I thought it was Costa who scored but two in the box insisted it was Kim; CPSL game report backs me up).
89 min...The game does not resume as a pushing match breaks out after the goal and some punches are thrown. Kim is given a Red card. (In the press box we're not too sure what happened). It might have been a bit of hotdog celebrating in the box after the goal that made tempers flare.
The game had been rough for much of the night.

Attendance was about 600 (my estimate) but the ticket count found out by someone in the box was only 400. I'm usually the one who underestimates a crowd. The game began just after 10:00pm because of the practise and intros after the end of the night's previous game so the game ended just a few minutes before midnight.
The Braga team is the fourth best in Portugal's top division and earned a UEFA place next year. They have a Canadian goalie who wasn't listed for this game. They were in a completely different class than the local opponents who are at best 3rd division North American calibre. The Supra hung on for one half but the visitors could have had close to ten if they were able to connect. Again the horrendous field (described in my other post) meant that passes rolled out of bounds. Braga had great switches on side to side passes where they could immediately be running up their opponent's wing with three of four passes from the opposite sideline.
Supra should get a team closer to their calibre on Sunday May 21st at 7:15pm when they play Portuguese 3rd division side Argrense (from Azores Islands) at Brockton Stadium.
There are two more games on Sunday at Lamport. Portuguese teams Braga plays Santa Clara at 6:30pm after the CPSL exhibition between Supra and White Eagles at 4:00pm.
