FOUR EUROPEAN TEAMS IN MAY CPSL EXHIBITION SCHEDULE
Tuesday - May 2, 2006

Four teams from Europe playing seven exhibition games during the next three weeks in Toronto, London and Windsor were confirmed by the Canadian Professional Soccer League at a press conference Tuesday.

Clyde of the Scottish First Division, Braga, Santa Clara and Angrense from Portugal, are all confirmed.

Clyde of the Scottish First Division attended the press conference at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan. The team arrived last Sunday after playing its last league game of the Scottish season the day before. The three Portuguese teams will arrive over the next two weeks.

Braga has drawn world-wide attention while bidding for the Portuguese championship and currently sits fourth in the standings.

Santa Clara is in the Portuguese Second Division, while Angrense is in division three.

The visitors will play games against the CPSL All Stars and four CPSL clubs using the three centres.

“Exhibition games involving high profile visiting teams are important to the development of soccer in this country and important opposition to the CPSL All Stars as we develop an All Star team that we believe will soon be the strongest team in Canada,” CPSL commissioner Cary Kaplan announced to the media gathering.
