(Rochester, NY)... Kirk Wilson scored three goals in the first half to lead the Rochester Raging Rhinos to a 5-3 road win against the Toronto Lynx at Centennial Park Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rhinos got on the scoreboard early, as defender Frankie Sanfilippo took advantage of a free kick and struck the ball under the cross bar past Lynx goalkeeper Theo Zagar to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Rhinos upped their lead to 2-0 when newcomer John Ball raced onto a pass from midfielder Jonathan Bolanos and chipped a shot high over Zagar from 18 yards out. It was the first goal for Ball in a Rhinos uniform since August 4, 2000.

Just over a minute later midfielder Kirk Wilson recorded his first tally of the 2005 season. Wilson's shot was deflected by Zagar but still managed to find its way across the goal line for an early 3-0 Rhino lead. Wilson capitalized again in the 17th minute when his initial shot was stopped by Zagar, however Wilson finished off the rebound that bounced to the left of the former Rhino 'keeper. It was a tough afternoon for Zagar who was chased from the net in the 24th minute, making room for former Roberts Wesleyan 'keeper Richard Goddard.

The Lynx finally got on the scoreboard in the late in the first half, as Jamie Dodds scored his team-leading third goal of the season.

Wilson and the Rhinos answered back quickly as he scored his third goal of the game in the 44th minute by placing a head ball shot to the back of the Lynx goal.

The Lynx would close the Rhinos lead to 5-3, on goals by Sean Fraser and Urbain Some late in the second half.

Rochester (2-4-1, seven points) picked up four out of a possible six points on their weekend road trip. On Sunday night, the Rhinos and Montreal Impact battled to a 0-0 scoreless draw. Goalkeeper Dusty Hudock made five saves in his Rhinos debut, while Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton made three saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

The game marked the first appearance in a Rhinos uniform for midfielder Rene Rivas since June 15, 1997. The game also was the return of another former Rhino, midfielder John Ball, who played for Rochester during the 2000 A-League season.

Overall, the Rhinos are 20-9-4 all-time against the Lynx, While those numbers look impressive, Rochester is only 6-7-4 away from Frontier Field in the series.
