The Toronto Lynx held their annual Media Day at a playing field outside Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke today at 11:00am. Attendance by the local media was quite good with maybe 30 people from various media outlets. Hopefully that's not the last we see of them the rest of the year.

A practise, blue vs gray scrimmage which was than supplemented with some of the media joining one side, penalty shot contest and group photo took place.

Most of the interviews were upbeat of course because the team is trying to keep interest in the season despite being 0 wins, 2 ties, 4 losses in their first 6 games. Their first home game is this Sunday at 4:00pm against the defending champions, the Montreal Impact (following the Lady Lynx first season game against Vermont Lady Voltage at 1:00pm).

Team captain was in street clothes for today's practise. He said he has a partially torn ACL and will be out until mid June but that's questionable.

Playing today was national team player Wyn Bellotte from Montreal and also the return of Edgar Bartolomeu who is back after the finish of the indoor season with Philadelphia.

Lynx assistant coach Lyndon Hooper was mobbed by cameras and microphones to answer questions. He fended some about his sister Charmaine Hooper arguably Canada's best all time player. He said he was never a goalscorer but Charmaine was and he's quite happy that he's now referred to as (the reporter put it) "no longer do they regard Charmaine as Lyndon's sister but now refer to Lyndon as Charmaine's brother".

The Lady Lynx players weren't there but head coach Brett Mosen told me that their exhibition game in Oakville last Saturday was very successful with them beating London Gryphons 2-1 in front of 500 fans.
