Match Summary:

The Toronto Lady Lynx advanced to the W-League's Eastern Conference Championship Tournament after a 6-0 first round playoff victory against the Vermont Lady Voltage this evening in front of 1,515 fans at Centennial Park Stadium.

The initial moments of the first half started sluggishly, with possesion of the ball exchange hands often. Toronto came close to taking the lead in the 14th minute when Deana Everrett's shot was stopped by Vermont goalkeeper Kristin Luckenbill with an impressive diving save.

Toronto took the lead on the next play when Catharine Maroszeky hit Julia Ralph's corner first time past Kristin Luckenbill. Vermont had the chance to equalize in the 30th minute when Karen Burke found herself with only Toronto 'keeper Stacey Vanboxmeer to beat but her shot was well over the goal.

Toronto made it 2-0 in the 35th minute when Deana Everrett's pass from the right side slipped through a bunch of players and eventually rolled in. Ashley Pfaff came close to getting one back for Vermont in the 37th minute. Vermont put together a series of fine passes, but Pfaff's finish was wide of Vanboxmeer's goal. It was 2-0 to Toronto after 45 minutes.

Toronto added to the lead in the 64th minute when Everrett chipped over Luckenbill and onto an oncoming Kim Warner who tapped into the empty goal from close range. Heather MacDougal added to the tally eight minutes later when she slotted home Marosszeky's pass from 10 yards out. Everrett added another in the 80th, and a Vermont own goal rounded off scoring the 82nd. It was 6-0 to Toronto after 90 minutes.

Toronto outshot Vermont 22 to 7, forcing Kristin Luckenbill into 13 saves. Stacey Vanboxmeer made 3 saves en route to tonight's victory. Deana Everrett scored twice and added an assist. Defender Catharine Marosszeky added to the offensive outburst with one goal and an assist.

Toronto's next game is this Saturday at 2:00 PM in Ottawa for the semifinals of the Eastern Conference Championship Tournament. Toronto's opponent on Saturday is pending the result of tonight's other W-League playoff matches; New York Magic at Boston Renegades and Western Mass Lady Pioneers at Long Island Magic. The Lady Lynx are assured of the #2 seed behind the Eastern Conference Champion, Ottawa Fury.

Notes: Toronto finished the W-League season in second place of the Eastern Conference's Northern Division with a record of 11-3-0. Vermont finished in third with a record of 7-7-0. The clubs had faced one another three times this season, with Toronto winning each game. The last game between both clubs ended 3-0 to Toronto in Vermont on July 3rd. Toronto outscored Vermont 8-1 through three games between both sides. Lady Lynx striker Kim Warner scored four of those eight goals.

15th min. Goal! Julia Ralph sends in a low corner that Maroszeky hits first time past Luckenbill into the bottom right of goal.
30th min. Karen Burke receives a pass inside Toronto's area, but her shot is well over Vanboxmeer's goal.
35th min. Goal! Toronto take a 2-0 lead. Deanna Everett sends in a cross from the right that eludes everyone and rolls into the goal.
37th min. Vermont come close. After a series of well constructed passes, Ashley Pfaff shoots but her effort is wide.
53rd min. Chiara Greco's shot from 20 yards out is just over Luckenbill's goal.
58th min. Courtney Wilson sends in a long ball that Karen Burke runs onto. She shoots from 15 yards out, but Vanboxmeer is equal to it.
60th min. Yuiko Konno sends in a cross that Everett connects with from close range, but Luckenbill is well placed to make the stop.
64th min. Goal! Deana Everett chips over Luckenbill. Kim Warner outruns her marker and taps in from close range.
70th min. Heather MacDougal makes a run down the right before shooting, but Luckenbill makes the stop.
72nd min. Goal! Katherine Maroszeky sends in a ball that Heather MacDougal runs onto and slots past an oncoming Luckenbill from 10 yards out.
74th min. Karen Burke's shot from 8 yards out is straight at Vanboxmeer who holds onto the ball.
80th min. Goal! Toronto make it 5-0. Deanna Everett picks up a loose ball deep in Vermonts box and fires home.
82nd min. Goal! A bouncing ball in Vermont's area goes off Vermont defender Amy Benson and into the goal.
