The young anthem singer today reversed the anthem and sang the American anthem last. She was more expressive on this than her rendition of O Canada.

Attendance was announced as 3284. I'd estimate it as 2200 as in the stadium stand was almost full and if the kids on the grassy hill side of the stadium would have sat in the stands, they would have packed it. The crowd was mostly made up of children from summer camps and schools around the area.
The game was played in 34oC weather and must have been hell with the heat and humidity. I could have predicted the way this game would go when I saw the lineups and the Ravens had NO substitutes. Just eleven players and goalkeeper Madison Gates playing as a forward while goalie Kristen Hubright played in net. The Ravens wilted in the second half. Lady Lynx outshot the Ravens 24 to 7.
Deana Everrett led the Lady Lynx with four goals playing upfront with Yuiko Konno. Julia Ralph was a starter but only lasted six minutes before being replaced by Janet Liguori. Anne Ogundele was the starting goalie for the Lady Lynx and didn't have much to do. Nicole Mercer came in to play the second half and had some key saves when the score was still 1-0 and then a few stops on Ravens Marci Pasenello on straight out breakaways during the last five minutes of the game when she got through the Lady Lynx defence. Kristen Habenicht made an interesting substitution as she came on for one minute then was ordered off by the referee to tape up an earring. I've seen this happen before but she was gone for almost five minutes and came back with tape over her eyebrow! I wasn't thinking that some people wear jewellery there. Leading goalie Stacey Van Boxmeer was not listed as a sub and neither was leading scorer Kim Warner. The team has two games coming up this weekend and that may be a reason why these players were rested.
The Lady Lynx finish their regular season with games this Saturday in Rochester and then back here for a game Sunday against Ottawa Fury. The Lady Lynx have made the playoffs in this division and will play Ottawa. Saturday's match should be much closer as I'd expect the Raven's will have a full bench. I'm sure they were taking notes of the last few minutes of the game when they almost scored a few times.
Note: The band "Preconfused" made their third appearance at Lynx/Lady Lynx games this season. With a longer set they mixed in covers of "When I Come Around", "All The Small Things" and "Song #2" (you know that Blur song used in the beer commercials "yahoooo"). They'll be back at next week's matinee game between the Lynx and Atlanta. A poster outside shows these aren't their only gigs. Every three days they seem to be at some county fair or shopping mall.
