TORONTO LYNX MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lady Lynx Back @ Centennial on Thursday!

Wednesday, July 6, 2005 (TORONTO, ON) - The Toronto Lady Lynx will return to the friendly confines of home base at Centennial Park Stadium for the first time in a month as they welcome the Sudbury Canadians on Thursday, July 7th at 7:30pm for Girl Power Night presented by Soccer World, the official soccer specialist of the Toronto Lynx.

The Lady Lynx completed their 5-game road trip on a winning note on Saturday, July 2 with a 3-0 victory over the Vermont Lady Voltage. The victory secured a winning trip for the Lady Lynx, who finished with a 3-2-0 mark and also snapped a 2-game losing streak. Kim Warner was outstanding once again in the match scoring 2 goals to bring her total to 9 goals in 9 games this season. She also moved into the W-League's top 5 in goal scoring with her fourth multi-goal performance of the season. Goalkeeper, Anne Ogundele earned the shutout, making 11 saves in her second start of the season.

The Lady Lynx will welcome the Canadians for the third meeting between the clubs this season. On May 28th the Lady Lynx took a 1-0 victory in Sudbury before romping a 7-0 victory at Centennial Park Stadium in the Lady Lynx' last home match on June 8th. With a win on Thursday, the Lady Lynx can move within one point of clinching a playoff spot in their first season in the W-League. The Canadians earned their first win of the season last weekend beating the Rochester Ravens by a score of 4-1 in Sudbury. The win ensured that the Canadians would at least equal their win total from their inaugural season in the W-League in 2004.

The match will also be the third for each club in the Women's Voyageurs Cup East competition. The Voyageurs, Canada's national soccer fan club, will present the only trophy specifically for top-level women's soccer for the second time this season. The winner of the competition is declared based on the head-to-head matches between Canada's Eastern Conference teams: the Ottawa Fury, Toronto Lady Lynx and Sudbury Canadians. The Fury currently leads the competition standings with a 2-0-0 record, while Toronto is 1-1-0 and Sudbury sits at 0-2-0.

LADY LYNX ADD MORE FIRE POWER!

Entering the final stretch of the W-League season, the Toronto Lady Lynx have announced the addition of talented midfielder, Jennifer Williams before the W-League roster freeze deadline on July 6th at 4pm. Williams saw her first action of the season in the victory over Vermont, coming off the bench to play the final 15 minutes of the match. The Scarborough native has W-League experience having appeared in all 14 games during the 2004 season with the Fort Collins Force scoring 2 goals. Williams has also enjoyed a solid collegiate career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In her sophomore season, she was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team in 2003 after scoring a goal and added 2 assists and increased these stats to 1 goal and 6 assists. Williams played youth soccer with the Burlington Flames and attended Birchmount Park High School in Scarborough. She was also a member of the Ontario Provincial Team from 1998-2001.
