Match Summary:

The Toronto Lady Lynx continued their streak of victories today, defeating the Sudbury Canadians 7-0 in front of 1 065 fans at Centennial Park Stadium for the first ever Lady Lynx School Day matinee. The students and staff in attendance were treated to an offensive explosion from the Lady Lynx as they enjoyed the sunshine at today's match.

Toronto opened scoring in the 29th minute, when Melanie Booth tapped in a rebound from close range. It was 2-0 five minutes later when Julia Ralph fired past Sudbury goalkeeper Katherine McNamarra from 25 yards out. Toronto made it 3-0 in 43rd minute when Kim Warner slotted a through ball past McNamarra from 8 yards out.

Toronto came into the second interval with a comfortable 3-0 lead, and opted to give goalkeeper Stacey Van Boxmeer a break, with Justine Bernier coming on in her place. Toronto added four more goals in the second half. Melanie Booth struck in the 50th and 72nd minute, with Yuiko Konno and Holly Lincoln adding to the tally in the 53rd, and 90th minutes respectively. It was 7-0 as the final whistle blew.

Melanie Booth earned a hat trick today, while Yuiko Konno scored twice and added two assists. Julia Ralph was on target once, and added an assist. Stacey Van Boxmeer and Justine Bernier shared in today's shutout.

Toronto have won all 5 of their games to date, scoring 15 times and conceding only one goal. Today's result leaves Toronto in first place of the W-League's Eastern Coference's Northern Division. Toronto next plays on the road when they face the Rochester Ravens on Friday June 10th at 7:30 PM.

NOTES:

Today's match was the second match between both sides this season. That game ended 1-0 in Toronto's favour in Sudbury. Catharine Marosszeky scored that game. Toronto entered today's match 4-0-0, while Sudbury was 0-3-0. Amanda Chiccini and Nicole Martineau were notable absences from Toronto's squad today.

25th min. Toronto come close. Julia Ralph fires from 25 yards out, but Sudbury goalkeeper gets a hand to it and tips the ball over for a corner.
29th min. Goal! Toronto break the deadlock. Sudbury goalkeeper Katherine McNamarra makes a stop off a shot, but fails to hold on. Melanie Booth runs onto the loose ball and tucks it home.
34th min. Goal! Julia Ralph makes it 2-0 for Toronto. She fires from 25 yards out, McNamarra gets a hand to it, but can't cope with the pace of the shot
43rd min. Goal! 3-0 to Toronto. Kim Warner runs onto a through ball inside the area and slots it to the left past McNamarra.

50th min. Goal! Yuko Konno crosses into the area. Melanie Booth rises and heads down past McNamarra.
53rd min. Goal! 5-0 to Toronto. Yuko Konno shoots from 7 yards out. McNamarra makes the stop but fails to hold onto the ball. Kono hits the rebound first time into the top left of the goal.
58th min. Kono shoots from 20 yards out, but her effort is wide to the left.
67th min. Toronto's Janet Ligouri's effort from 15 yards out sails over the bar.
68th min. Toronto earn a free kick just outside the area. Holly Lincoln takes it, but her effort sails over the bar.
72nd min. Goal! Melanie Booth makes it three for herself, and six for the Lynx. Yuko Konno crosses into the area, Booth is there to head past McNamarra
78th min. Sudbury earn a free kick just outside the area. Melynda Roach takes it, but her effort is not on target.
80th min. Roach takes another free kick, this time from 25 yards out. It sails over the bar.
89th min. Goal! Holly Lincoln heads in Julia Ralph's free kick from close range, making it 7-0.
