LADY LYNX ANNOUNCE ASSISTANT COACH AND PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE!

Tuesday, March 15, 2005 (TORONTO, ON) - The Toronto Lady Lynx announced today the appointment of Joe Moscato as assistant coach for the inaugural season of the Toronto Lady Lynx in the W-League. Moscato has been involved in coaching at the youth club level since 1996 with the Dixie Soccer Club. In 2004, he lead the U18 Dixie Blaze, featuring current Lady Lynx star players Amanda Cicchini, Deana Everrett and Robin Rushton, to the Canadian National Club Championship, Ontario Cup Championship and Ontario Youth Soccer League Championship. Moscato also earned OYSL Coach of the Year honours in 2001 when coaching the U16 Dixie Fury.

"Selecting a coaching staff has the same importance as player selection," explains head coach Brett Mosen. "Joe has coached many of the top female players in Ontario, many of them are playing or have played on the National Team. He has a wealth of knowledge in the women's game here in Canada and not only holds my respect, but also the respect of the National Team coaching staff."

Before beginning his coaching career, Moscato was a standout youth soccer player earning the National Soccer League Most Valuable Player award in 1991 with the York Jets Soccer Club and being named co-captain of the NSL Selects league all-star team. Moscato's outstanding play earned him a soccer scholarship to the University of Tulsa.

Moscato joined the coaching staff just in time for the Lady Lynx open trials over the past weekend. Head Coach, Brett Mosen, is super pleased with the tremendous talent identified over the last weekend to begin to round off the 2005 roster of the Toronto Lady Lynx. "We were very impressed with the calibre of talent that came out for the trials and are very excited on how this team is coming together!" In preparation for the inaugural season, team physicals will take place the week of April 25th through the Lynx medical trainer, Dr. Robert Gringmuth of Sports Injury and Rehabilitation. The Lady Lynx will train on a daily basis at Bronte Athletic Field in Oakville beginning Monday, May 2nd from 7:30-9:30 (see schedule below).

FIRST GAME OF THE PRE-SEASON!

Soccer fans will get their first opportunity to see their W-League stars in action when the Lady Lynx welcome the London Gryphons to Bronte Athletic Field for an exhibition match on Saturday, May 7th at 2pm. Bronte Athletic Field is located on Lakeshore Road West between Bronte Road and Third Line in Oakville. The Gryphons will be playing their first W-League season as part of the Midwest Division of the Central Conference while the Lady Lynx are members of the North Division of the Eastern Conference along with Vermont, Ottawa Fury, Rochester Ravens and Sudbury Canadians.

The Gryphons are coached by Paul D'hollander who has extensive experience as the head coach of the Fanshawe College men's varsity team. They have also begun to build an impressive roster for their 2005 season including: Connie Tamburello, the reigning Ontario College Athletic Association scoring champion and Rookie of the year; Kimberely Dimitroff, an NCAA Freshman All-America from Kent State University and Cristina Bonasia, a 4-time Canadian Interuniversity Athletics All-Canadian.
