LADY LYNX PEN NATIONAL TEAM STAR!

Tuesday, March 1, 2005 (TORONTO, ON) - The Toronto Lady Lynx have penned a native of Oakville for their first ever player signing. Amanda Cicchini, a Canadian National Team midfielder, is a familiar name to soccer fans. Cicchini has earned 13 national team caps since her debut on May 11th, 2004 and scoring one goal. The talented midfielder was an integral part of the U19 National Team that reached the quarterfinals at the 2004 FIFA U19 Women's World Championships in Thailand playing in each of Canada's four matches.

"Amanda is one of Canada's brightest young prospects, of which I am sure the fans of Toronto will enjoy watching during our season," expressed Lady Lynx head coach, Brett Mosen. "Signing a National Team talent such as Amanda shows how ambitious the Lady Lynx are in putting a talented team together that will be exciting & competitive."

Cicchini, 18, has enjoyed success at every level throughout her youth soccer career, winning the Club National Championships, the OYSL Championship and Ontario Cup title in 2004 with the U18 Dixie Blaze. She has also competed with the Brams United Rebels and Oakville Soccer Club before joining the Lady Lynx in her first season of women's soccer. Graduating from Holy Trinity Secondary School in Oakville in June, Cicchini has already committed to attending West Virginia University on a soccer scholarship to begin her collegiate career in 2005."I hope to develop as a player and get a taste of the level of play," explained Cicchini upon signing. "I bring leadership and experience at a high level to the team and hope to be a big contributor to the Lady Lynx in their first season".

The Lady Lynx kick off their season at home at Centennial Park Stadium on Sunday May 15th at 1:00 when they take on the Vermont Lady Voltage. For ticket information visit www.lynxsoccer.com. Soccer fans will receive two events for the price for entry into the only double header of the season which includes the Toronto Lynx home opener versus the Montreal Impact following at 4:00. Tickets for this double header are going fast with the grandstand already almost sold out due in large part to the many Youth Soccer Club partnerships that the club has concluded this season.
