CRUCIAL WIN FOR ST. CATHARINES IN PLAYOFF BID

St. Catharines Wolves registered their intention to win the third place playoff spot in the Western Conference with a crucial 1-0 victory over London City at Cove Road in London, the only game scheduled in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Friday. The game was rescheduled following a postponement on August 12.

Ashley McMillan struck the only goal of the game for the Garden City team at the 78th minute mark following an end-to-end encounter important to both teams. The win lifted St. Catharines into third place in a race still wide open with just four points seperating the four bottom clubs.

The win gives St. Catharines a 6-8-3 WLT record for 21 points, that's a point more than Brampton Stallions in fourth place with 20 points, while London City drop to fifth with a 5-10-4 record for 19 points and Border Stars are still in the picture although 6th with 18 points.
