OAKVILLE COAST TO 3-1 WIN, INCREASE LEAD AT TOP OF WESTERN CONFERENCE
Thursday - August 4, 2005

Western Conference leaders Oakville Blue Devils put on a strong performance with a 3-1 victory over Toronto Supra at Bronte Stadium in Oakville, the only game in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Thursday.

A returning Ian Sinclair, overseas since the early part of the season, celebrated his come-back to the Blue Devils with a solid volley from the edge of the penalty box to hit the top corner of the net after just three minutes of play.

Marko Bedenikovic made it 2-0 when he bent a free kick around the wall into the top of the net at 33 minutes, but Supra captain Danny Amaral cut the lead to 2-1 when he headed home a corner kick four minutes later, a score that held to the interval.

Toronto Supra improved in the second half, but it was Blue Devils that struck again when Igor Prostran increased the lead to 3-1 at the 84th minute mark and the Blue Devils coasted to the win despite having a player ejected just two minutes earlier. Kevin Ricketts will miss an important game against London City on Sunday after being red carded for Violent Conduct at the 82nd minute mark and Oakville player Aaron Steele will also be out after receiving a third yellow card over several games to earn a one-game suspension.

Oakville increase their lead to four points at the top of the Western Conference. They now have a 7-1-2 WLT record for 23 points with Hamilton Thunder running second, while Toronto Supra are at 3-4-3 for 12 points and fourth place in the east.
