LAVAL DYNAMITES NIP SUPRA 1-0 IN LEAGUE PLAY
Border Stars outscored AEK London in penalty kicks following a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes and 30 minutes of overtime in quarter-final action of the Open Canada Cup at Windsor Stadium Saturday.
London took the lead on a goal after 11 minutes by Kyle Cornet and the lead held up until Border Stars' Tino Sciccukana scored the tying goal at the 53rd minute mark.
Border Stars outshot London 7-6 on penalty kicks to move on to the semi-final.
In regular season action Saturday, Laval Dynamites moved to a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 home defeat of Toronto Supra at the Bois-de Boulogne Stadium
In a game that could have gone either way, Nicolas Lesage struck the vital goal for Les Dynamites at the 35th minute mark.
Laval improve to a 6-3-0 WLT record for 18 points, while Toronto Supra are at 3-3-3 in fourth place in the east with 12 points.
Additional games in the Canadian Professional Soccer League this weekend are the remaining Open Canada Cup quarter-final encounters.
