SUPRA’S AMARAL STRIKES TWICE FOR 2-2 TIE
Saturday - July 16, 2005

Toronto Supra forward and captain Danny Amaral scored two come-from-behind goals to salvage a 2-2 tie with Border Stars at Windsor Stadium, the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Saturday.

Border Stars, looking to secure a badly needed three points before their home fans while at the foot of the Western Conference standings, opened the scoring at 20 minutes on a goal by Tino Scicluna, but the lead was cancelled out by Amaral’s first goal just two minutes later for a 1-1 tie at the interval.

The border team again went ahead just four minutes into the second half on a strike by midfielder Jeremy Harkins and Border Stars looked promising for the win as the second half progressed, but Amaral again tied the game when he beat Border Stars’ goalkeeper Anthony Santilli for a 2-2 tie that held up until the final whistle.

Border Stars are now at 2-6-1WLT for 7 points, while Toronto Supra are at 3-2-2 for 11 points and still fourth in the Eastern Conference standings.

There was one game in the Women’s Canada Cup this afternoon, Border Stars Women defeating Toronto Supra District Allstars, 5-0.
