MARASOVIC LEADS CROATIA WITH HAT-TRICK
Friday - July 8, 2005

Toronto Croatia midfielder Leo Marasovic led his team with a second half hat-trick to defeat London City 3-1 at Cove Road in London Friday.

Croatia and London were leading in their respective east and west conferences going into Friday’s game, so the result had special significance and it was London which led at half time on a goal by Jeff Johnson at the 27th minute mark.

But Marasovic took over for Toronto Croatia two minutes into the second half when he struck at the 47th minute mark, again 9 minutes later and he completed his natural hat-trick at the 60th minute mark for a 3-1 final score.

Croatia is now showing a 4-1-1 WLT record for 13 points and they go four points ahead of Laval Dynamites in the Eastern Conference, while London City remains on top of the west with a 5-3-0 record for 15 points, four points in front of Hamilton.

In Women’s Canada Cup action at the Oshawa Civic Stadium, London Selects edged Durham Region All Stars, 2-1.
