BRAMPTON STALLIONS EDGE ASTROS 2-1 SUNDAY
NORTH YORK WOMEN DUMP TORONTO SUPRA ALLSTARS 6-0

Sunday - June 26, 2005
Brampton Stallions scored twice in the first half and held on to a 2-1 half time lead over North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium, to record their second victory of the season in the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Sunday.

Alvaro Yaques, a 20-year-old defender opened the scoring for the Stallions when he put the ball past Astros’ goalkeeper Sherwin Ramsey just four minutes into the game and Jusif Jawando made it 2-0 for the visitors 15 minutes later.

Joseph Feijoo struck back for the Astros at the 39th minute mark, a 2-1 score at the interval and a score that held up to the final whistle.

Ramsey picked up a red card and was ejected when he handled the ball outside of the box just before the final whistle.

The win lifted Brampton off the foot of the Western Conference standing with a 2-1-2 WLT record for 8 points and fourth in the standings, while North York Astros now sit at 1-4-0 for three points and fifth in the Eastern Conference table.

There was one game in the Women’s Canada Cup Sunday with North York District Allstars proving to be too strong in every department for Toronto Supra Allstars to record a 6-0 victory in a one-sided affair at Esther Shiner Stadium.

Sarah Farrar struck twice for North York at the 11th and 24 minutes after Kierra Metcalfe had opened the scoring at 7 minutes. Alex Scavo also scored twice at 63 and 86 minutes and Natalia Jacinco scored at 83 minutes to complete the 6-0 rout.
