OTTAWA ST. ANTHONY. OTTAWA ROYALS, BENFICA AND AEK LONDON ADVANCE IN OPEN CANADA CUP
Two Ottawa area teams, Ottawa St. Anthony Italia and Ottawa Royals, together with AEK London and Benfica Toronto, have advanced to Round Two of the Open Canada Cup following wins over the holiday weekend.
Ottawa St. Anthony Italia defeated Hearts S.C. of North York by a 2-1 score on Sunday afternoon, and on Sunday night, Ottawa Royals edged London Portuguese by the same 2-1 score.
On Victoria Day, Benfica Toronto thumped Capital City Ambassadors of Ottawa 6-0, and on Monday night AEK London blanked Inter-Oshawa, 2-0.
Christopher Santos led his team with three goals as Toronto team Benfica romped to an easy 6-0 win over Capital City Ambassadors On Monday. Santos’ goals came after 37, 60 and 82 minutes, while Dean Campbell struck at the 71st minute and Federico Perreira rounded out the scoring at the 87th minute mark.
London AEK scored a goal in each half to defeat Inter-Oshawa in the fourth Open Canada Cup Preliminary Round, Aldo D’Oria scoring at 37 minutes and Mark Magier at the 71st minute mark.
