ROCHESTER, NY -- The Rochester Raging Rhinos defeated the Toronto Lynx 2-0 in front of 9,452 fans at Frontier Field tonight. Rhinos forward Chris Carrieri contributed on both scoring plays, picking up one goal and adding an assist.

After a foul-plagued start to the game, Rhinos forward Carrieri took matters into his own feet, by scoring on a brilliant bicycle kick at the eight-yard box to give the Rhinos the early edge. The Lynx could not clear the ball out of their penalty box, as two Toronto defenders headed the ball straight-up in the air on consecutive tries. Carrieri took advantage of the miscues and promptly placed the ball in the top left corner of the Lynx goal in the 28th minute.

The Rhinos picked up their second goal of the match, as super-sub Corey Woolfolk headed in a rebound off of a shot by Carrieri for the 2-0 lead. Woolfolk's goal was his sixth goal of the season, and third in as many games.

The Lynx nearly placed their first goal in the Rochester goal, as midfielder Darren Baxter's shot from 30-yards out hit the crossbar in the 78th minute. That shot was as close as the ball would get near the Rhinos' goal.

Rochester goalkeeper Theo Zagar picked up his fifth shutout of the season, making one save. Bryhem Hancock made four saves in goal for Toronto.

This is the third and final time these two teams will square off this season. Each team captured wins at home, with the Rhinos going 2-0 at Frontier Field. The Rhinos are now one point ahead of the Richmond Kickers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Rhinos, fresh off of a two-game sweep of the Puerto Rico Islanders last weekend, returned home for the first of two games this weekend. The Rhinos will hit the pitch on Sunday evening at 6:05 to face the Atlanta Silverbacks.
