Montreal Impact score three in second half for 4-1 win over Lynx

MONTREAL (CP) - Joel John Bailey broke a tie three minutes into the second half and Mauricio Vincello and Freddie Commodore added insurance goals as the Montreal Impact beat the Toronto Lynx 4-1 in A-League soccer Friday.

Canadian international Nevio Pizzolitto gave the Impact a shortlived 1-0 lead in the 25th minute before 6,831 at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

But just three minutes later, the Lynx (2-4-0) equalized when striker Ali Gerba's kick deflected off the post then off Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton before going in.

It was credited as an own goal and was the first conceded in five games by the Impact (4-0-1) this season.

After Bailey scored in the 48th minute, Vincello made it 3-1 in the 69th and Commodore iced things during injury time.

"We played very well in the first half and were right in the game," said Lynx coach Duncan Wilde. "We gave away three goals off of free kicks and when that happens at this level it is tough to win."

The Lynx and Impact meet again Saturday in Toronto.
