(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Raging Rhinos opened their 2004 A-League season in grand fashion against the Toronto Lynx on Saturday at Frontier Field.

A crowd of 9,698 loyal fans braved the rainy conditions before the game to watch Rochester take an early 1-0 lead when Ian Fuller's flick onto Chris Carrieri found the net, giving the Rhinos a 1-0 lead. It was the first goal as a Rhino for Carrieri, who was acquired a month ago as a free agent.

Rochester added to their lead just before the half when Kirk Wilson found himself on the receiving end of a nifty pass from Noah Delgado, to make the score 2-0 at the break. Delgado, acquired in the trade that sent Scott Schweitzer to Syracuse, gained control of the ball along the endline, sending a pass that snuck through a defender and goalkeeper Bryheem Hancock, to the foot of Wilson. Wilson's sliding attempt at the ball beat defender Adrian Serioux for his first goal of the year.

The combination of Corey Woolfolk and Chris Carrieri struck twice within the final ten minutes of action. The first goal came when Carrieri's pass to Woolfolk was one-touched past Hancock from about ten yards out. The two would connect six minutes later to give the Rhinos a 4-0 opening day win.

Newcomer Chris Carrieri was the scoring hero for Rochester a one goal and four points to lead Rochester.
