The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club extends a warm invitation to media representatives to meet and greet our 2004 players and engage in a friendly scrimmage with the team on Wednesday, May 11th at 11:00am at Centennial Park Stadium. Lace up your boots for a kick around with the Lynx dynamic 2004 roster followed by an interview/photograph session and Pizza Pizza lunch.

LYNX CONTINUE ROAD TRIP IN ROCHESTER

The Lynx are looking to build on a successful start to the 2004 season as they travel to Rochester this weekend to take on their fiercest rival, the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Fresh off a 1-0 overtime victory in Puerto Rico, the Lynx continue the regular season with a road game on Saturday, May 1st at 7:35pm at Frontier Field in Rochester. Lynx fans unable to make the trip to Rochester can catch the action live via webcast at www.wysl1040.com.

"Our team has been training hard all week, working on our game plan and system of play," commented Lynx head coach, Duncan Wilde. "It is always difficult playing in an opponent's home opener because of the size and excitement of the crowd as well as the pre-game festivities which can affect your game preparation. That being said, we have been through this once already in Puerto Rico and were still able to get the result. My biggest concern is injuries right now. Several key players are banged up and we may not have our preferred lineup for Rochester. However, we are hoping to build on the confidence of our opening day win and carry that over into this weekend's match."

The perrennial title contending, Raging Rhinos look to be poised once again for a run at the A-League Championship. The Rhinos completed their preseason schedule with an undefeated 5-0-1 record and will be looking to defend their turf in their 2004 home opener. The Rhinos roster will once again include plenty of firepower. All-time leading scorer, Doug Miller, who finished second in the A-League in points last season and recorded 17 goals in 28 games returns for another season and former Lynx captain, Theo Zagar, looks to solidify the Rhinos goalkeeper situation after an off-season transfer to Rochester.

LYNX RELEASE O'NEIL

Import midfielder, Kris O'Neil has been released from the Lynx 2004 roster. The former Scottish Premier League player entering his first season with the Lynx did not display the attacking flair that was expected when he was offered a contract following the 2004 Lynx open trials in January.

"Kris had difficulties adjusting to the style of play of the new-look Lynx," explained Wilde. "As an import player, it was very important that he be in the starting lineup. Kris had a specific role in the wide areas of the field and when he was integrated with the rest of the roster, we felt there was better quality in the young Canadian players."

O'Neil became expendable with the performance of young Canadian Jamie Dodds in the preseason and recent signing of former MLS star, Edgar Bartolomeu. The move also opens up a foreign roster spot which Wilde has been looking to fill with several players on trial with the Lynx this week.
