INFERNO LATEST VICTIMS OF UNSTOPPABLE OTTAWA FURY

(OTTAWA, Ont.) – Five different Ottawa Fury players scored one goal apiece as they shut out the visiting Toronto Inferno 5-0 at Keith Harris Stadium Sunday afternoon in W-League action.

Rhian Wilkinson, Kelly Parker, Leah Robinson (by way of a penalty kick in the 45th minute), Annie Hamel and Amy Vermeulen beat Anne Ogundele en route to their 12th win of the season against no losses and no ties. The Inferno drops its record to 3-9.

Fury goalkeeper Leisha Alcia earned her 9th shutout and 11th victory of the 2004 season.

Scoring continues to be an Achilles heel for the young Inferno squad as they have been shut out in four of their nine losses.

After two consecutive losses, the Inferno will try and get back on the winning track this Friday and Saturday to end their season on a high note.

Mathematically eliminated from playoff competition, the Inferno will finish off their regular season with a pair of matches in Massachusetts.

Friday night sees the Inferno play in Ludlow against the Western Mass Lady Pioneers at Lusitano Stadium. On Saturday, the team will travel to the other side of state to finish off their 2004 campaign with a match against one of their long-time rivals – the Boston Renegades – at Bowditch Stadium in Framingham. Both matches kick off at 7:30 p.m.
