Final Score:..........Toronto Inferno..........0...............New Jersey Wildcats............6........

Attendance was about 200 on this warm sunny evening. This was the home finale of the Inferno's 2004 season. Their record falls to 3-8.

This game was a total mismatch. Amanda Brown earned the shutout for the Wildcats without making a save while Anne Ogundele had to be sharp for the Inferno to keep the score from being into double digits. When the Inferno did venture over their own side of center in the second half, the Wildcats would counterattack getting many 3 on 2 breaks. If the Inferno wanted to keep the score down, they could have played eleven men back.

As the Inferno press release stated earlier in the week: "New Jersey's lineup features seven players who also suit up for England, Finland, France, Holland, Ireland, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States respectively at the World Cup level. The Wildcats' roster also includes four members of the United States' Under-21 squad and one member of its Under-19 team." While not every country was represented in tonight's game, France's Pichon scored the games first three goals and missed chances to double her effort. Tasha St Louis from Trinidad came in the second half and drew the game's only Yellow card when she knocked Inferno forward Naomi Eguchi out of the game by hacking her leg from behind in the center circle. Finnish winger Anne Makinen took many of the cornerkicks. If the WUSA gets started again next year, many of these players should drift up to that higher calibre league.

A pleasant surprise was seeing the Willis twins again, Rochelle and Janine. These players played the Boston last year and for the Inferno before that. They were in the Canadian national team and Under 19 player pool a few years ago but could never get enough time off school to go to the tryouts. They are now both enrolled in Princeton and studying Socialogy and Physiology (?) and plan on law school after one more year at Princeton.

Wildcats remain undefeated at 12-0 and move on to Sudbury to play the 0-11 Canadians. As a rep from the W-League taking in the game mentioned, the schedules were made at the beginning of the season based on last year's results. True the Wildcats record was only 7-7 in 2003. Undefeated Ottawa Fury plays host to the Inferno on Sunday. It looks like a Wildcats-Fury match will have to wait until the W-League playoffs.
