SHOOTERS, HITMEN BOTH SCORE NARROW 2-1 WINS IN SUNDAY NIGHT ACTION

Vaughan Shooters overcame a 1-0 early second half deficit with just 10 men to defeat St. Catharines Roma Wolves, 2-1, at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan, one of two games in the Canadian Professional Soccer League Sunday night.

At the same time, Brampton Hitmen took a 2-0 half time lead to hold on for a 2-1 final score against Metro Lions at Victoria Park in Brampton.

Vaughan forward Joey Todaro was shown the red card near the end of a scoreless first half in the Shooters vs. St. Catharines game and the Garden City team took advantage in the second half when at 53 minutes Jeff Attard beat ‘keeper Robert Scala for a 1-0 St. Catharines lead.

Vaughan fought back and drew level at the 61st. minute mark on a goal by midfielder Sean Myers and just when the game was heading for a 1-1 tie, Vaughan’s Chris Turner struck the winner with just three minutes to the final whistle.

Vaughan Shooters have two wins and a tie in their three games played so far.

Sean Holmes put Brampton one-up at the 33rd minute mark in their home game with Metro Lions and Ivan Jurisic made it 2-0 just on half time.

Metro Lions reduced the lead to 2-1 after 63 minutes, but Brampton held on to the lead for a 2-1 final score.
