Considered one of Europe's top club sides after winning the Portuguese first division championship in 2001 and reaching the UEFA Cup semi-finals, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Glasgow Celtic last year, Boavista has brought its full roster of 19 first team players for the 3-game North American tour. The team finished eighth in the Portuguese first division standings on May 9.
Boavista lost 3-1 to NY/NJ MetroStars of Major League Soccer in their opening game played last night (Wednesday) at Elizabeth N.J.
