Referee Mike Lambert had initially shown the Red card to a different TS player but this was corrected before play resumed.

Attendance was about 300 (near capicity) on this CPSL season's opening night. The weather had threatened all day to rain and there'd been a few downpours already in the day but the rain held off and the crowd just had to put up with a quick drop in temperature when it got dark in the second half. The game was pretty evenly matched with both teams having an advantage for a few stretches of the game.
Shooters Joey Todaro was the star of the game with his two goals and some other close attempts. He looked like he was running 10% faster than any other player on the field. Shooters coach Tony Dethomasis said the wet field was a disadvantage to his team because it was slowing the ball down.
The Soccer Centre outdoor field used by the CPSL has field turf installed. It does not have a scoreboard but is fenced off. They have installed more aluminum stands since I was there a few months ago but the passageway over the grass to get to them after the rain we've had this weekend left mud puddles to wade around. The broadcast booth was under a portable tent with transparent plastic that I could catch the action and was at least warmer than the stands. Future games I will probably stand on the other side of the field to catch the substitutes and a clearer view of play because watching the game through a sheet of plastic cut down my vision.
East Side Mario's has become a major sponsor with gift vouchers given away for anyone who could catch the tomatos tossed to the crowd. Sounds interesting but they were blow-up balls and near beach ball sized. The 50/50 draw was a no lose because for the $5 cost there was a $5 voucher towards a meal there.
This game was switched from next Sunday so the Supra could play Boavista FC (Portugal). Tonight's original opponents Durham Storm will play the Shooters next Sunday at 7:30pm.
