Virginia Beach – In a match that featured 45 fouls, the Mariners suffered their first home loss of the season off the foot of Toronto’s Joe Mattacchione. Mattacchione scored off a free kick in the 34th minute from 25 yards out.
The match was marred by foul after foul with no flow in the match. After Toronto’s score, the Lynx sat back and packed the box, cutting off the Mariners’ passing lanes. Even so, the Mariners outshot the Lynx 10-9.
