May 27, 2003 Toronto Lynx press release.

We’re Kicking it up in June! Join us for the world's beautiful game....!

The Toronto Lynx will be hosting their annual Girl Power Day on Sunday June 8th at 4:00 when the Montreal Impact is back in town. Since 1999, the Lynx have been honouring the growing power of female in soccer and other walks of life. Soccer fans will have the opportunity for autographing/photographing session with some of the finest female soccer players in our country from the W-League’s Toronto Inferno squad: Tina Blaskovic, 2001 W-League MVP; Melanie Booth, played for Canada U19 World Cup and on present World Cup squad; Holly Lincoln on U19 squad; and Anne Ogundele, the Inferno goalkeeper who originates from the Oakville Soccer Club. Anne will be in goal for the Kick to Win contest at half time when fans will have an opportunity to win an autographed Toronto Inferno jersey. The match will feature many other fan interactives and entertainment and is also the official Oakville Soccer Club Day when Oakville youth clubs will be on hand to showcase their youth soccer talent through staging mini scrimmages at half time, in addition to being the official ball retrievers. Big Brothers and Big Sisters will also be out in great numbers as part of their community partnership with the Lynx. This match also marks the back end of a home-and-home series with Montreal and the result will count toward the inaugural Can Am Cup competition, a round-robin tournament featuring Toronto, Montreal, Syracuse and Rochester, culminating in the final on July 30th.

Celebrate Father’s day this year with the gift of soccer. Join the Lynx for Father Appreciation Day on Sunday June 15th when the Syracuse Salty Dogs are back to take on the Lynx at 4:00. As usual in addition to great pro soccer action, dad will enjoy the added musical entertainment features being led by the Humber Express to honour all dads! The Lynx will have a score to settle in this match, as the expansion Salty Dogs have beaten the Lynx in both meetings thus far this season. With a chance to gain ground in the division and Can Am Cup points on the line, expect this to be a hard-fought affair.

The final June home game takes place on Saturday Night June 21st at 7:30 with the Lynx annual Fiesta Latina Night. Fans will enjoy the sights and sounds of Latino vibes with folkdancing from various South American countries and an appearance by the lovely Miss Hispanidad. Latin fans will want to come out and witness the fine talent on the Lynx roster of Argentineans, Maurizio Vincello and Sebastian Barclay as they take on division rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

All games will feature great giveaways from Lynx sponsors through the Game Day Draw. Not only can you win one of many fantastic prizes but by filling out your ballot, you’ll have the chance to Kick for Cash thanks to Pro-Line.

Make sure to stand up, cheer and Go Nuts for donuts from Tim Hortons. There’s also the Inaria t-shirt toss which rewards boisterous fans in addition to the Hasbro Fan of the Game package which celebrates those who love the Lynx!
