INFERNO DROP FINAL 2003 REGULAR SEASON ROAD GAME

(CAPE COD, MASSACHUSETTS) - Stacey Stocco scored the Boston Renegades' final two goals of the night as the New Englanders defeated the Toronto Inferno 5-2 on Saturday evening at Dennis Yarmouth High School in Cape Cod.

Toronto's Kim Warner had given the Inferno a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the match but that only held for four minutes before Beth Totman tied the score.

Katie McGregor put the Renegades up 2-1 in the 32nd minute and that would remain the score at half time.

Carrie Kveton got the second half scoring started in the 53rd minute with her team-leading 12th goal of the season in 11 games.

However, Warner got the Inferno back in the game with her fourth goal of the season only two minutes later.

Unfortunately for the Inferno, that would be all of their scoring while Stocco still had a show to put on for the Renegades' fans. She retained second place in the team goal scoring race behind Kveton with her sixth and seventh markers of 2003 in the 61st and 68th minutes.

"Our players played hard but with this being their second game in less than 24 hours, they just ran out of gas," said head coach Tony Marmo.

Toronto defeated the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms 2-1 in overtime on Friday evening at Manchester, New Hampshire.

The Inferno now have a 6-5-1 record for 19 points and third place in the Northern Division. Boston leads the division, and W-League, with a record of 11-0-1 for 34 points.

The Toronto Inferno finish off their regular season at home with two matches next weekend. On Saturday, July 26, they host Boston at Scarborough's Birchmount Stadium. Kick off time is 7 p.m. The following day, the New Jersey Lady Stallions provide the Inferno's opposition in a 2 p.m. tilt, again at Birchmount Stadium.
