Attendance was about 125 for this game played on a warm, breezy, overcast evening.
Boston are the defending W-League champions and the Inferno played them pretty well in the first half although Renegades were a much bigger team. Just a week after wondering what happened to the Willis twins who I enjoyed watching play for the Inferno last year they were back--although playing for the Renegades. Janine was the starter and played the first 67 minutes. When the Renegades triple subbed at that time sister Rochelle took her place in the midfield. The twins go to Princeton University.
Inferno goalie Anne Ogundele looked much more confident than the last game I saw her play and deserved some goals to help her out. Inferno pressing in the second half left the defense open to counterattacks.
The Renegades remain undefeated this year and win the North Division. Inferno fall to a 6-6-1 record and play the first place New Jersey Lady Stallions in the Northeast Division to try to finish above .500. Things looked promising halfway through the season but an emphasis on youth left many veterans off the team. Former Inferno and W-League MVP Tina Blaskovic sat in the stands as a spectator tonight and was telling fans she will not be back with the Inferno next year neither.
