BRADY SCORES OVERTIME WINNER FOR INFERNO

(MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE) - Robyn Brady scored 18 minutes into overtime off a direct free kick as the Toronto Inferno edged the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms 2-1 in W-League action on Friday evening.

It took more than an hour for the first goal to be scored as Toronto midfielder Jennifer Williams sent a through ball to Kim Warner in the 70th minute and the crafty forward proceeded to slide a shot past Lady Phantom goalkeeper Jenna Mello who had come off her line to cut down the angle.

New Hampshire's Amy Cochran would tie the score in the 78th minute as she rung a shot off the post and past Inferno goalkeeper Anne Ogundele.

As a testament to a very young Inferno squad, they were able to outshoot New Hampshire 24-17 (20-15 in regulation time) despite missing Canadian national players Diana Matheson, Melanie Booth, Candace Chapman, Holly Lincoln and Robyn Gayle. Matheson, Booth, and Chapman are with the World Cup team in Montreal while Lincoln and Gayle are in Europe with Canada's Under-19 squad.

"We played okay but still missed a lot of chances," said Inferno head coach Tony Marmo.

"We're still making mistakes as our rookies continue to get used to one another and the veterans."

The Inferno now has a record of six wins, four losses and one tie, good for third place in the Northern Division. New Hampshire remains in fourth place of the division with a record of three wins against nine losses.

Next action for the Inferno takes place Saturday afternoon in Framingham, Massachusetts as they play their arch rival and Northern Division-leading Boston Renegades. Kick off time is 5 p.m. The Renegades come into Saturday's match sporting a 10-0-1 record.
