Attendance was about 225 on this hot, humid afternoon with a bright sun in the west.
Lady Riders Brianne Pardini and Kerri McCabe led many rushes into the Inferno end. This team was a lot better than Friday's opposition from New Hampshire. They had the better of play in the last twenty minutes of the game until they took the lead.
Candace Chapman scored two great goals doing the work herself to finish off the plays. Diane Matheson had some good runs even when pushed aside by much larger defenders. Cristina Bonasia and Heather Gallacher were the starting forwards for the Inferno today. The loss just about eliminates the Inferno from playoff contention and maroons the team to a third place finish in their division with only the top two teams qualifying for post season play. Inferno now go on a road trip and their last two home games of the year are Saturday July 26th at 7:00pm against unbeatable W-League champions Boston and Sunday July 27th at 2:00pm against New Jersey Lady Stallions.
Whatever happened to the Willis twins? Rochelle and Janine decided to stay in the US for the summer confirmed Inferno head coach Tony Marmo on Friday. They were on scholarships at Princeton where from the programs handed out to fans at today's game it appears national team player Diana Matheson will be going starting this Fall.
Now I could drive across the city and watch the A-League Lynx play, better hurry.
