INFERNO TWO GOOD FOR RAVENS IN HOME OPENER

WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO - Four members of the Toronto Inferno scored two goals apiece as the home side shutout the Rochester Ravens 10-0 in W-League action on Friday evening at Woodbridge's Rainbow Creek Park.

The Inferno will actually play the remainder of their home games, with the exception of a June 28 match versus the Ottawa Fury, at Scarborough's Birchmount Stadium.

Tina Blaskovic, Diana Matheson, Candace Chapman and Heather Gallacher each found the back of the net twice in Woodbridge as the Inferno raised their record to three wins against no losses.

Marisa Kovacs and Jo McNish added the other markers.

"If these players gel, it should be the best season the franchise has ever had," said Head Coach and Director of Soccer Tony Marmo.

Of 24 players on the Inferno roster, 13 are new to the club.

Rookie Inferno goalkeeper Anne-Marie Witco was rarely under pressure, having to stop only one shot on the way to her first W-League shutout.

"It doesn't worry me that she was not tested very much tonight," said Marmo.

"We can still test her effectively in practice."

The Inferno have one week off before meeting the New York Magic at Iona College in New York City on Saturday. That match kicks off at 4 p.m.

Other upcoming games for June:

June 21 at Ottawa Fury 2 p.m. Keith Harris Stadium

June 22 South Jersey Banshees 2 p.m. Birchmount Stadium

June 28 Ottawa Fury 7 p.m. T.B.A.
