WIZARDS, DYNAMITES BOTH WIN SATURDAY

Ottawa Wizards took a 4-point lead over Toronto Supra at the top of the Eastern Conference following a decisive 3-0 victory over western leaders Hamilton Thunder at Brian Timmis Stadium Saturday.

In the only other game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, Laval Dynamites continued to bid for a playoff spot with a narrow 3-2 win over lowly Durham Flames at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.

Ottawa midfielder Urbaine Some gave his side a 1-0 lead at the 18th minute mark of the game in Hamilton, and MacDonald Yobe scored twice for the Wizards, at 48 and 87 minutes, to put the game out of reach of a Hamilton Thunder. But the Steeltown team is still very much favoured to win the Western Conference title-- presently at 9-3-4 with 31 points, seven in front of Brampton Hitmen

The Wizards now have an 11-0-4 WLT record for 37 points, thatís four points in front of their nearest rivals, Toronto Supra.

Durham Flames put up a strong challenge in the 3-2 loss to Laval Dynamites at Centennial Stadium despite the Oshawa-based teamís poor all-season performance at the foot of the Eastern Conference.

Lavalís Leo Incollingo put the Quebec-based team in the lead with a free kick at the 18th minute mark, but Durhamís Laurence Ledwige headed in the equalizer after 29 minutes.

Nicola Rotiroti gave Laval the lead after 53 minutes and Nasson Theosmy made it 3-1 for Dynamites four minutes later.

Flames cut the lead to 3-2 on a penalty kick taken by Jahmo Welch at the 84th minute mark for a 3-2 final score.

Laval Dynamites move into third position in the eastern standings with a 7-6-2 record for 23 points.
