Wolves on top with 1-0 victory

St. Catharines Wolves took over top spot in the Western Conference of the Canadian Professional Soccer League with a 1-0 win over Mississauga Olympians at Club Roma on Wednesday.

This was the lone game played after two games listed in the official schedule were postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Carlo Arghittu continued his prolific scoring when he found the net on a penalty kick at the 76th minute of a closely contested affair, the penalty awarded when Mark Mulholland of St. Catharines was brought down by Olympiansí Dwayne Wright.

Arghittu is red hot for St. Catharines with a goalscoring spree that totals nine for the season, including a hat-trick last Wednesday in a 3-1 win over North York Astros, then scoring the winner in the 2-1 Open Canada Cup victory over London City on Friday night.

St. Catharines take over the Western Conference with 16 points from a 5-4-1 WLT record, closely followed by Brampton Hitmen and Hamilton Thunder each with 15. Hamilton Thunder and the Hitmen meet at Brian Timmis Stadium Thursday.

Two other games listed on Wednesday, Toronto Croatia vs. North York Astros and Toronto Supra vs. Durham Flames were both postponed and will be rescheduled.
