Final Score:..........Metro Lions...........3.................Brampton Hitmen..............1.............

Attendance was about 60 on this warm night with a misty rain falling at various times in the game.

Metro Lions rebound from their loss in the Open Canada Cup Monday afternoon in London by getting back on the winning track. This game ended the Hitmen's nine game unbeaten streak. The Lions scoring two goals in the first seven minutes was a real surprise but the team could exploit the opening that the Hitmen defenders left on some miscues. The Hitmen drew the three Yellow cards in the first half and the cards continued to come against the Hitmen the rest of the game.

Halftime subs Robert Fran and Milodrag Akamazic stabilized the Hitmen defense and made a comeback possible. Hitmen hit about three posts and crossbars in their attempts. The Lions had A-League Toronto Lynx player Nikola Vignjevic in their midfield. He was still with the Lynx less than a week ago. I wonder if there'll be a migration of Lynx players over to CPSL teams to get another month of soccer in?

The rain at various times limited my note taking. I sat on the east side of the field to track of the substitutions. I wasn't enjoying the game as their were some hecklers who were using bad language against the officials throughout the game and then encouraged the Hitmen to hack at the Lions players. I think the officials were even rattled. They had a hard time keeping the three game balls retrieved with no ball boys. After the red card to the goalie that one man who objected to the card I feinted what the elbow looked like but certainly didn't touch him. Later when he asked how much time was left, I sarcastically pointed at my wristwatch and said they'd played 47 minutes (true) but it as he correctly said it should have been the fourth official who informed us. After the game I thought one of the fans (a white woman with a Jamaican accent) was going to attack the officials. (probably groundless that she'd physically get involved). For some reason I spat at her from behind. My spit went over her shoulder missing her probably because of my bad aim (what came over me?). One of her friends saw that. She came after me demanding an explanation. I tried to explain and she took a kick at me that I easily stepped back from. She pulled out her cell phone to call the police then swung her arm and caught me with a haymaker to the glasses. I kept them on but they were bent out of shape. I think it was Hitmen head coach Steve Nijjar came over to grab her and break it up. I retreated my way out of there and drove home.

Certainly this whole incident was my fault. I should have just left after the game and let the officials in their circle make their way to the dressing room. I apologize to the Brampton Hitmen organization. Obviously this woman was a wife/girlfriend of one of the players and to risk scaring her kids (yeah, earlier while the game was on they were yelling insults too). The Hitmen are one of my favourite teams and have been very entertaining. I plan(ned) on going to their Sunday game at Victoria Park against Ottawa Wizards and if as usual I am on the other side of the field near the fourth official, I'll be 60 yards away from any fans.
