Attendance was about 125 for this rescheduled game, one of four CPSL games starting within two hours in the Toronto area. This was a clash of the last two unbeaten teams in the league so both can brag for a little while longer. It really was a well played game and it was a fair result.
Wizards did outplay Supra in the last 20 minutes but both teams had some chances in the 4 minutes of injury time. Wizards Charles Gbeke got a through ball at 86 minutes and cuts roller around goalie but Supra Jaroslav Radzinski gets a foot to it to stop ball rolling into open box. At 94 minutes, Radzinski was pushed over at the center line and Wizards ran up the right wing, crossed through the box and Gbeke got a last shot from 10 yards wide left of the post. Between that time at 91 minutes, Supra got a rare shot when Alex Lopez sent in a cornerkick from the right to Danny Amaral got a clear shot from 12 yards that was blocked by the flying goalie.
We were surprized to see Wizards coach Hubert Busby Jr sitting in the press box in the first half with team owner Omur Sezerman on the bench barking out commands. It was so Busby could get "a different perspective" on the game. (yesterday at the Glen Shields game they were both coaching from the bench). By the second half, he was back on the bench but he answered some questions from Saul of NUKE Soccer web site. As Busby put it diplomatically, how many owners have coaching credentials? I offered a zinger that it could only be worse if Sezerman had a son that he pushed on to the team like at least three other CPSL owners do quite often. The CPSL is an 'owners' league was the conclusion of all of us. Busby said the Wizards are about seven players away from being a good A-League team. By good he meant competitive rather than the Team Calgary existance.
Sezerman lit into the players after the game. Two ties over the weekend won't please him. It could be a long bus ride back to Ottawa.
The Toronto Supra mascot "Supra Spike" made an appearance. The man inside also is coach of some of their youth teams obviously outside the hot blue bulldog costume.
