Results from the CPSL game played between St.Catherines Roma Wolves and Brampton Hitmen at Club Roma Park on 18-June-03 (20:20 start)

17 min...RCard...SC Lucio Ianiero (2nd YCard) 25 min...GOAL...SC Carlo Arghittu
90+min...GOAL...SC Carlo Arghittu

Final Score: St.Catherines Roma Wolves 2 Brampton Hitmen 0

Highlights:
The game started under ideal conditions, with a fairly packed house and was interesting right from the start. SC was handed a yellow card in the 1st minute and the rest of the game held to this form. SC player/coach Ianiero received his second yellow and was quickly dismissed. BH continued to press forward and attacked the short handed Roma squad. Against the grain, SC Carlo Arghittu received along pass on the edge of the box, made a couple of quick moves and slotted the ball into the net. The rest of the game can be quickly sumarized by saying it was chippy, vocal, agressive and dominated by the Hitmen's ball control. With time winding down and the Hitmen throwing everybody forward, SC Carlo Arghittu received a pass at half and raced in on goal alone and slotted the ball past the BH keeper.

Players to watch: SC Carlo Arghittu, SC Tony Carbonara, BH #5, BH #12 (sorry didn't write the names down)

Players to avoid: referee (lost control very early)

Commentary:
First time out at Roma park this year and the same old gang was there! The match was an extremely chippy affair and it seemed like the ref lost control in the first few moments. The crowd was energized and ready to battle the ref with every call made, even though many of the calls were fair. As the game moved along, it developed into a typical Roma game. Long passes to Carlo Arghittu and let the play develop through him. Both of his goals came against the run of play and were both very classy goals. However, the game was dominated by very rough tackling and an inconsistent ref. Brampton had the majority of possesion after Lucio was red carded but could not create any real scoring threats. Hats off to the Hitmen wingers for their runs down either side; if only their crosses could've been finished this game might've turned out diferently.

Also, the crowd was very vocal for this game (too bad it wasn't like this at Hamilton home games). However, you've often got to wonder what game the old Italians are watching. They were on the ref from the start and wouldn't let up, even when the ref got the call right. Oh well, guess that's what home field advantage is all about.

Cheers,
Lazyboy.
