OLYMPIANS , LONDON; SUN DEVILS, LIONS; HITMEN, WIZARDS ALL TIE A goal by London City’s Andrew Logue at the 32nd minute mark of a hard-fought contest appeared to give the City its first win of the new season until Johnny Matas found the net with just seconds remaining in the game with Mississauga Olympians. The tie was a heartbreaker for the young London City squad playing a team of veterans and a visiting team favoured to win its opening game of the season.

The scoreless tie at Dufferin Clark involving a Sun Devils team that was the final product of a merger with last year’s York Region Shooters, was played before a well-attended crowd in fine opening night weather.

Kevin Nelson of Ottawa Wizards opened the scoring for his team two minutes before the interval in an exciting opener at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon, the goal entering the net on a deflection off Hitmen midfielder, Maximiliaro Andrada, but four minutes from time Marcin Wysocki of Brampton levelled the score for a 1-1 tie final score.

Despite the one-sided 4-1 final score in favour of Hamilton Thunder over Durham Flames Saturday night, the game was a physical rough and tumble affair which saw Hamilton take a 2-0 lead on goals by Ian Bennett (14 minutes)and Dave Simpson (20 minutes), before David Mills made it 2-1, scoring for the Flames at the 70th minute mark. Gaston Bizera of Hamilton made it 3-1 at the 75th minute mark and Ryan Thomson struck the fourth Hamilton goal on a penalty kick after 87 minutes.

A skirmish at the final whistle resulted in Hamilton's Nico Pocu being ejected.
