Final Score:............North York Astros..............3...............Brampton Hitmen...............1..............

Attendance was about 100 on this cool afternoon with the sun even coming through to chase away the storm clouds of earlier in the day. Today was the Astros year end draw for prizes including a trip to California. They'd been selling tickets at every game this year. The winner of that grand prize was a Hitmen fan actually present at today's game.

Astros finish the season on an upbeat note tieing two and winning one in their last three games of the season. Hitmen weren't worried as before the game they knew win, lose, or tie they'd finish in second place in the Eastern Conference and host a playoff game this Tuesday either against St Catharines Roma Wolves or Toronto Croatia. As one of their players reminded me, they were playing with mostly their reserve team today. True as I noticed captain Phil Ionadi missing along with Kurt Mella and Adolfo Mella, Milodrag Akmadzic and Hugo Herrera. Astros did without regular goalie Luciano Miranda who has a broken hand and Guillermo Compton Hall who was injured in the last game on Thursday night.

Hitmen switched goaltenders with Ricardo Esgro replacing Roy Blanche at the 22 minute mark as Blanche was caught out of his net twice and defender Robert Fran had to clear a shot off the line. Actually Fran was the best defender of the game as he blocked numerous balls taking a shot in the back, one off his head, and cleared another one off the line later in the game.
