Subject: Rocket Robin interview with Danny Sanna Sunday September 29th, 2002 after Ottawa Wizards just had a thrilling victory over Toronto Croatia in the Final of the CPSL Canada Cup here in London Ontario. RR--I'm talking with Danny Sanna, I call him "The Trophy Magnet". Actually Danny how many CPSL trophies have you won? DS--Eleven! I missed the first year of the CPSL when it first opened but after that every year since I've won three each year except last year we lost as Ottawa won pretty much everything. RR--Have you been on any individual All Star teams? DS--Yes, last year we played against Morocco's Under 21 Olympic team. Also Maritimo from Portugal's First Division and this year we played against the German side [TSV 1860 Munich]. RR--Now you've played for Toronto Olympians in their early years and now you're in with Ottawa Wizards who are winning trophies now too. In Toronto there's a lot of trading between teams but you moved to Ottawa. Is there a reason for that? DS--Yes. Last year when we came to play against Morocco we played in Ottawa and when I first saw the facilities! The field is world class--that was the main reason. And also, I could just tell they were the most serious team in this league so I try to be as serious as I can and that's what they showed me and I wanted to be a part of it. RR--Now the early years, which minor league system did you work your way up through and what did you study at school? DS--Minor league system. Well we started in the Scarborough league then from there we moved to the NSL which was around for many years then we moved to the OSL which is the Ontario Soccer League. That's the league just under the CPSL but it's still amateur. RR--And going to school? DS--I studied Business Administration with a concentration in management. I went to two schools. One was in West Virginia called Alderson Brodus College then I transferred to one near Pittsburgh, it was called Robert Morris College. RR--OK thanks. Now the Wizards are one of the few places that are a full time team, assuming that you train so often that it's full time work playing for them. But what about the off season? Do you work or study in the off season? DS--Well this year I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the offseason but these past years no I haven't been working--just relaxing waiting for the upcoming season. But this year I don't know hopefully I can get something--do some reffing or coaching 'cause I wouldn't mind staying in Ottawa for the winter. RR--OK thanks a lot and we're be looking in the next month for some more incoming trophies! Thanks a lot! DS--Hopefully! Thank you very much. ......................................................................................
