Attendance was announced as 3253 on this sunny hot afternoon. Although the crowd was allowed to spill over and line the grass embankment on the east side all the crowd could have been squeezed into the seats. That wouldn't have given enough space for the fan clubs or Toronto Ultras and Montreal Ultras to unfurl their banners. The Toronto group taped up "L'Impact Vous Suckez Poutine".
This was the Lynx first game back at Centennial Stadium since June 23rd with a few long road trips and a home stand commitment made with York University for July at the beginning of the City workers strike.
Lynx midfielder/forward Elvis Thomas confirmed with me that he is out with an injury dispelling the almost empty pressbox rumour that he was in mourning this week for the 25th anniversary of the death of singer Elvis Presley. (groan). Lynx had three regular defenders out with injury or suspension this game and it really hurt at the start of the game.
The Impact dominated the first ten minutes but the rest of the game evened out with each team taking turns applying the pressure. Impact had a few chances near the end when the Lynx pressed and were caught short in the back.
