The Lynx were forced to play from behind in the second half after giving up two first half goals to the Eagles. In the 37th minute Eagles midfielder Rob Mouw opened the scoring as he took a Carlos Claderso pass and kicked the ball off the post and past Toronto goaltender Theo Zagar to put Charlotte ahead 1-0. Less than three minutes later the Eagles added to their lead as forward Dustin Swinehard scored his second goal of the year as he got loose deep inside the Toronto zone and fired a shot past Zagar to give Charlotte a 2-0 lead at the half. Hopes of a Toronto comeback took a hit in the second half as defender Milan Kojic received a red card in the 49th minute, leaving the Lynx short-handed for the remainder of the match. This also marked the third time in the last four matches that a Toronto player has been sent off in a match. However, the Lynx continued to battle hard and injury call-up Aaron Benjamin finally solved goaltender Richard Goddard in the 90th minute as he headed in a Lynx corner to cut the score to 2-1. From that point on Toronto held a furious rally late in injury time and generated numerous scoring opportunities including a shot off the post. In the end though Charlotte was able to hang on and preserve the victory.
