Final Score:.........Toronto Inferno.............1...............Ottawa Fury..............0...............

Leisha Alcia earned the shutout for the Inferno. She had much more to do than the Fury goalie as they had many more chances. The Inferno relied on long ball counterattacks. Both the Willis twins were in the game for the Inferno. National team players Kristina Kiss and Marie-Claude Dion were starters for the Fury.

Attendance was about 50 persons for this hastily arranged venue in Burlington. Coach Tony Marmo told me the team had sold 450 advance tickets and expected a crowd of about 800 as part of the Robbie Tournament in Scarborough (80 kms away). The City of Toronto outdoor workers strike dragging into its first weekend caused the rescheduling. Next Sunday's game may be rescheduled to York University before the Toronto Lynx game becoming a doubleheader. Exposing the team to 1500 fans would be a marketing coup. Let's hope something can be arranged!
