press release from Toronto Inferno
INFERNO DROP HOME OPENER (Burlington, Ont.: May 28, 2002): The Toronto Inferno gave up a late goal to the Long Island Lady Riders in their first home regular season game of the 2002 season. The only home regular season loss last year came at the feet of the Lady Riders by a lone goal. History repeated itself as the home side led by Leisha Alcia's stellar goalkeeping, kept a clean sheet till the 87th minute. Lady Rider's Michelle O'Brien banged in the late strike to give the visitors the points. "Tough way to lose a game, especially when Leisha had performed so well, and to lose it so late was unfortunate, however well deserved on their part," commented Coach Marmo. The Toronto Inferno competes in United Soccer League's W-League and is the "Future of Women's Soccer." The Inferno will battle the New Hampshire Lady Phantoms on June 16th at Sherwood Forest in Burlington. -30- For more information contact: Toronto Inferno Tel: 905-294-6199 E-mail: inferno@torontoinferno.com
