The Ottawa Wizards won a
first-place showdown with the Montreal Dynamites yesterday, scoring a 3-0
victory on the road.
The Wizards now hold first place in the Eastern
Division of the Canadian Professional Soccer League with 10 points, one more
than Montreal.
Urbain Some, Roger Groome and Danny Sanna scored for the
Wizards in hot, humid conditions at the Sportsplexe Catalogna in
Laval.
Ottawa rebounded from two below-par games last weekend and return
to the win column after a win and a tie Toronto.
"Our defence was a lot
better than last weekend in Toronto," said Wizards' general manager Jim Lianos.
"We didn't give Montreal any chances to score."
The Wizards return home
for a pair of games July 6 and 7 and have a special promotion. Because of all
the rain two weekends ago when the Wizards opened their season, the club will
honor any tickets from the June 15 and 16 games. All home games are played at OZ
Optics Stadium in Carp.
