The Brampton Hitmen
(in yellow) rallied for a 2-2 draw against the Durham Flames in Canadian
Professional Soccer League Cup action on Sunday. The win gave the Hitmen a 7-3
win in the two-game total goals series and allows them to advance to the Cup
semifinals.
The Brampton Hitmen have advanced to the Canadian
Professional Soccer League Cup semifinals after tying the Durham Flames 2-2 at
Victoria Park Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Hitmen won the two-game
total-goal series 7-3 after trouncing the Flames in Durham one week ago.
On Sunday, however, it was a different Flames team that took to the
field as they played the Hitmen even, and even carried a 2-1 led into the final
10 minutes.
But the Hitmen responded with the equalizer from Yousif
Jawando just eight minutes from completion.
Kurt Mella had opened the
scoring for the Hitmen with his seventh of the season just 13 minutes into the
contest but the Flames rallied to tie the contest late in the first half.
Durham took the lead midway through the second half setting up Jawando's
game-tying marker.
The Hitmen host the Metro Lions tomorrow evening at
Victoria Park Stadium beginning at 8 p.m. and are back at home again on Sunday
to tangle with Toronto Croatia at 7:30 p.m.
