Attendance was announced as 20,064 on this mild but windy afternoon. There is no way that many people showed up to watch the game.
The Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was named as defender Adrian Cann.
With the playoffs almost mathematically out of the picture even before this game, fans from the support groups brought signs to criticize ownership and management. Besides not making the playoffs for the fourth year in a row (the team's entire existance), ticket prices have been raised for next season. A chorus of boos greeted the team after the game.
Dwayne DeRosario scored and he made a finger to palm gesture different than his usual Shake'N'Bake chicken strut celebration. He got in trouble when he explained this new celebration later. He was 'writing a cheque' as if we wanted to renegotiate his contract.
It was the first home game for new interim head coach Nick Dasovic (he was an assistant coach earlier this year). The players seem to like him from what I've seen on television interviews. I used to watch him play in old Canadian Soccer League for the North York Rockets and dug my old team jersey out of the cupboard to wear for this game.
This was the first MLS game involving two Canadian coaches. Winning coach was Frank Yallop.
