FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Zack Schilawski became only the third MLS rookie to score a hat trick Saturday as New England used a second-half surge to dispatch Toronto FC 4-1 at Gillette Stadium.

New TFC captain Dwayne De Rosario opened the scoring after 28 minutes, but Schilawski responded two minutes after the break to draw the Revolution level. Schilawski scored twice more to complete his hat trick before Sainey Nyassi sealed the Revolution's second win on the trot.

New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph made his first start of the season for the home side after recovering from a right hip flexor strain and started in place of Pat Phelan, while Julian de Guzman (ill) dropped to the bench as one of five changes made by Preki after Toronto FC's 2-0 season-opening defeat by Columbus.

Toronto FC set out to frustrate the Revolution from the opening whistle and accomplished their goal during the opening half. In addition to congesting the play through the center of the park, the Reds grabbed the opening goal in the 28th minute.

De Rosario converted his third goal in as many games against the Revolution after Nick Garcia collected a Revolution clearance from a corner kick and floated in a cross from the right wing. De Rosario ghosted away from his marker and nodded home to give TFC the lead.

New England responded emphatically after the break and scored four times in the first 21 minutes of the second half to place the game beyond doubt.

Schilawski opened his MLS account two minutes after the break to cap off a fine Revolution move. Nyassi and Kheli Dube played a one-two to spring Nyassi free down the right side. Nyassi's cross through the goal area froze the TFC defense and Schilawski reacted to nod home.

The New England rookie made it two goals in four minutes after he caught Nick Garcia in possession inside his defensive third. After stripping Garcia of the ball as he attempted to clear, Schilawski tucked home the resulting breakaway to give the Revs the lead.

Schilawski sealed his hat trick in the 61st minute to grab his third goal in 11 minutes. Joseph started the play in midfield by playing Dube in down the right side. Schilawski met Dube's cross and tucked home from close range to give the Revolution a two goal cushion.

Nyassi extended the lead five minutes later after yet another mistake at the back by the visitors. Nane Joseph attempted to hit a simple back pass to Stefan Frei, but didn't hit the ball with enough pace. Nyassi streaked in to intercept the ball to tuck home the gift and compound the Reds' misery.
