May 29, 2010 W-League--Toronto Lady Lynx vs Rochester Ravens (from Rochester Ravens press release)

Toronto is Next for the Rochester Ravens
Ravens look to avenge last year's defeats

Rochester, NY, 05/29/10 - This Sunday, May 30th, the Rochester Ravens will play the second game of the weekend to complete the first two games of the season. They will be playing against the Toronto Lady Lynx at 4 PM at Oshawa Civic Stadium. The Ravens look to improve upon their first game, which ended in a 2-0 defeat to the Ottawa Fury.

"Our first game could have been better but I am pleased with the direction that this team is going," says Head Coach Mark Howlett. "If our players continue to show the improvement they did in the first game, then we will be in line to earn three points in every game."

The Rochester Ravens will host a Toronto Lady Lynx team that finished the 2009 season with a 6-4-4 record. The Lady Lynx have had a string of success from 2005 to 2008, making the playoffs in each year. Their best season in that span was in 2005 when they made it to the conference finals.

On Saturday against the Fury the Ravens were stunned early as Ottawa Fury scored in the first couple of minutes to take a 1-0 lead and then led 2-0 at halftime. The Fury held on to the lead for the rest of the game while battling an increase of scoring chances for the Ravens. The crowd of 415 fans often sensed the momentum turning but the ball never reached the back of the net.

"We were disappointed with the first result but we have moved on and are concentrating on Toronto," stated Howlett.

The Rochester Ravens next home game is June 9th against the Hamilton Avalanche and tickets are $5.00. Students who are seniors can get in the stadium for free with a valid college ID. Season tickets are $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids under the age of 15. For additional information about the team you can contact Devin DePoint at 585-352-5300 or devin@dougmillersoccer.com.
